Going a step further than Nike iD’s online sneaker customization tool. Nike in conjunction with French technology company SmartPixels, has installed an augmented video-mapping device in a couple of Nike Stores in Paris. Customers in the Avenue des Champs-Élysées shop can customize sneaker colourways on a tablet attached to a video-mapping device, using the Nike iD online platform. The colours are then projected in real-time as they are selected by the tablet, onto whichever all-white sneaker model the customer places on the device. Currently, you can only customize Cortez, Air Max, and LunarEpic Low sneaker models in-store, but Nike is looking to roll out the technology after a successful trial period.
