The Mens Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt Japanese Whisky. The Nikka Whisky Co. was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, who is widely acknowledged as the father of Japanese whisky. Established in 1934, the company has two large distilleries and several blending and bottling plants and is now part of the Asahi Group. Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a no-age-statement blended malt which contains a high percentage of malt from Miyagikyo, with the remainder coming from Yoichi. Aged on average for around 10 years in a variety of different cask types, the blend also uses a percentage of whisky matured in Sherry casks to give it extra richness, and a spicy lift. Silky, elegant, round and precise, delicate notes of cereal, apple, clove and honey are evident. Wonderfully balanced and deliciously long, this is a fine entry-level Japanese whisky and a great example of why this category is currently so popular.£10.71 per 100.00ml
