Domaine Leflaive

Chevalier-montrachet Grand Cru 2011

Found at Harvey Nichols & Co Ltd

Domaine Leflaive has been present in Puligny-Montrachet since 1717 and became, under the reigns of Anne-Claude Leflaive, a leader in Burgundy’s biodynamic movement, with the whole property being converted in 1997. Today the domaine is considered by many connoisseurs the jewel of Puligny-Montrachet and the producer of some of the world’s best Chardonnays. The wines are aged for 12 months in 25% new oak and are transferred to steel tanks where they are allowed to clarify naturally during the second winter. 93-96 points, “An ultra-elegant, pure and strikingly expressive nose of airy and intensely spicy acacia blossom, wet stone, lemon peel and various white-fleshed fruit aromas. There is a lilting mouth feel to the gorgeously intense, precise and cuts-like-a-knife medium weight plus flavours that brim with mineral and an abundance of dry extract that coats the palate on the hugely long finish. The balance is impeccable and this will be one of the relatively few 2011s that should amply reward longer-term cellaring” – Allen Meadows, Burghound¬£63.33 per 100.00ml

With a white wine tradition in Burgundy dating back to 1717, Domaine Leflaive produces the finest Puligny there is. However, it was in 1920 that Joseph Leflaive founded the Domaine Leflaive winery as we know it today.
