Brava España : The Sunflower House
Built by Barcelona and Mexico-based Cadaval & Solà-Morales Architects, the Sunflower House is situated in the Costa Brava, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Located in the picturesque fishing village of El Port de la Selva, north of Barcelona, the striking Sunflower House, possesses a boxy contemporary exterior design. The interior compliments the striking exterior aesthetic with dark wood floors and simple contemporary furniture complimenting the pure white walls and spectacular glazed panoramic views of the Mediterranean.
The Sunflower House Concept
The project attempts to frame and diversify the views over its surroundings and incorporate them within the most significant spaces in the house. The main space, connected through a double height corridor to the back patio, incorporates sun inside the house for both comfort and climatic reasons. The house has a green roof that helps to control its interior temperature changes, and will incorporate state of the art environmental conditions to fulfil the highest environmental standards.
Combining a difficult elevated plot with an irregular modern design, the Sunflower House by Cadaval & Solà-Morales Architects embodies luxurious, coastal living.
